Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Oscar Health.
Director
Had 3 phone calls, each about 30 minutes long, and it moved pretty quickly. Some team members were filling in for the hiring manager who wasn't there yet. The first two calls were mainly about discussing general expectations and the role itself. The last call was very focused on behavioral questions.
- Could you share some examples of your leadership?
- Can you talk about your experience with client relationships?
Director
Did you ever have an interview where the HR rep speaks to you on speaker phone, and their words are all garbled because of the outside interference? And have you ever experienced asking them to take you off speaker (because you are exercising your psychic and empathetic abilities of what they might be saying, since you cannot hear what they are actually saying), and they don't? They continue to hold the phone conversation on speaker... Well, you can experience this for yourself at Oscar :) A tip to the LGBTQ+ community - this could be a good fit for you, with the HR.
- Oh, you really can't hear me? Let me repeat the question.
Director
It was a really organized and professional process. I had one main contact person who was super helpful and kept me in the loop. They were really flexible with scheduling, which was great because I didn't have to take too much time off work. They also kept me updated on what to expect.
- Can you share details about your previous work experience?
- What's your understanding of the market?
- Walk me through your experience managing teams.
