Customer Service Representative
It began with a quick 15-minute recruiter phone call where I mostly led the conversation. The recruiter ended with a riddle, which felt unoriginal. After a week of unprofessional email exchanges, I had an in-person interview. This involved three 30-minute interviews. The first was with the same recruiter, who seemed disengaged. The second was with a current CSR, who was great and provided valuable insights without using generic questions. The third interviewer, a trainer, posed scenario questions relevant to customer service, which was challenging given my lack of experience for this entry-level role. She then critiqued my response to the first scenario and moved on to general questions like discussing a past challenge.
- What's a recent lesson you've learned?
- Can you tell me about a challenge you've encountered?
- Describe a time you resolved a conflict.

So first, I filled out an online application, and there was this one written question where I had to show I can give clear instructions. After that, there were 3 audio questions, and I had the system call my phone so I could record my answers. The system was pretty decent. By noon the next day, I got an email to schedule an interview. It was on a Sunday, which was new for me, and there were 2 rounds, each lasting 30 minutes. I got there about 10 minutes before my 10 AM interview. Exactly at 10, the interviewer met me. She gave me some info about Oscar and then we did 2 role-playing scenarios. The second round was more like a typical interview, asking about my past work experience. They wanted me to describe situations where I dealt with customers in different scenarios. I think how you say it and share your experiences matters more than the actual answer, just be positive and highlight your people skills. After the interviews, I was told to wait in the room and they'd call me about an offer. I was asked to wait and someone would see me out. About 10 minutes later, a woman came and took me to another room and asked me a few questions. She said she was a VP and gave me a job offer right there. I accepted and signed the papers with 2 recruiters immediately. The whole experience was good, the interviewers were really friendly. I usually get nervous, but I didn't feel that way because I wasn't expecting anything and the interviewers made me feel comfortable. Overall, a good interview process.
- Can you share an instance where you had to handle a customer who was unreasonable and angry?
- Tell me about a time you devised an innovative solution to a challenge.

The process was longer than I'm used to, starting with an online application, then a phone screen, followed by an in-person interview, and finally one last interview. Each step felt positive though, giving me different insights into various company aspects. The application and phone screen gave me a good idea of what they were looking for. The in-person interview involved meeting four different people. The final interview provided more about the company's vision. It felt different from other customer service roles I've applied for, as it seemed they were assessing me as a potential long-term partner, not just another employee.
