After sending in your resume, there's usually a quick call (phone or video) with HR or a recruiter to make sure you're qualified and still interested. Then, you'll likely have a more in-depth chat with the hiring manager, just the two of you, to go over your skills and what you've done that fits the job. After that, there might be rounds focused on specific skills for the job, where they'll ask you behavioral questions (like, "Tell me about a time...") to see how you've handled things before. Sometimes, you'll have to do a test, give a presentation, or a simulation to show what you can do, and then you might talk to team members or leaders. Finally, there's a last meeting to make sure everyone is a good fit. The interviewer should tell you what happens next, how long it might take, and give you a chance to ask your own questions.

It was a 30-minute screener chat, pretty chill. We did some casual talking and then they hit me with a couple of behavioral questions, like the classic ‘tell me about a time when.’ They also asked why I was interested in Orrick.

Sent your application via email, then had an online one-on-one interview. They asked about my studies, thesis, some technical questions, and we chatted in English. Also asked motivational questions about why I want to work at the firm and pursue a legal career.

Behavioral Technical

Applied for the job via LinkedIn on July 30th. Received an email from an internal recruiter on Aug 14th inviting me for a screening interview, which took place on Aug 19th. The recruiter mentioned they would forward my name to the hiring manager and that I should expect to hear back within a few days. However, from Aug 20th to 25th, there was no follow-up. I sent a follow-up email to the recruiter on Aug 26th, but didn't get a response. I sent another follow-up on Sept 3rd, still no response. As of today, Sept 12th, it's been almost a month since the initial screening interview invitation, and I haven't heard anything back from Orrick. Interestingly, two external recruiters contacted me last week about the same position, but they both stated that my name is already in Orrick's system, preventing them from submitting me. It seems I'm stuck in limbo, ghosted by the internal recruiter.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • The recruiter asked about my salary expectations.
  • We discussed my previous work experience.
  • We also talked about my desired work schedule.
