The technical interview process was good, really focusing on my actual experience instead of questions easily found online. But ultimately, even though I was upfront about my minimum salary expectations, they still wasted multiple hours and disqualified me in the final round for reasons that were apparent from my resume and salary talk from the start.

This felt like an ableist interview. They said I'd have one question but ended up asking three. One person spoke for a minute about a question, barely giving me time to process. They were timing me and said they only had 5 minutes left. I'm still debating if I should file a formal complaint. It was awful, and they ghosted me after I emailed twice. After the first email, I was told they'd decide mid-week, but I never heard back. It was incredibly unprofessional.

The ORISE Fellowship is a scholarship for those wanting to work as research fellows in national labs like USDA, FDA, NIH, and CDC. The interview process is pretty straightforward: you apply for a job, and if you're shortlisted, they'll give you a call for a phone interview. Sometimes, you might need to present your research on-site. Once the agency picks you, the paperwork for the offer letter and joining date can take anywhere from 1 to 2 months.

The interview lasted from 30-45 minutes where the interviewers described the mission of the federal office, then asks questions to the interviewee, and the interviewee asks questions (which I highly suggest). The waiting period is extremely long for some offices due to background checks.
