First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Origin Energy.
Lead Engineer
The interview process was lengthy, spanning four months and involving a formal interview plus four informal ones. While the leaders seemed inexperienced and unprofessional, this might not reflect the entire company.
- Can you explain how you embody the company's values?
Engineer
It was pretty chill. A 2-person panel did the whole thing, just one round. They asked a mix of stuff – personal, technical, leadership, and what I thought about some topics. They really dug into my past experiences with a lot of examples. They also hit me with a bunch of 'What If' and 'How might you' questions, which seemed to be about checking my technical and problem-solving skills, not just random personality checks. The interview lasted about 2.5 hours. Honestly, it was one of the most thorough and interesting interviews I've been through. It felt more like a chat, and I got to ask a lot of questions and learn a good bit.
- How do you handle challenging individuals, with specific instances?
- Could you provide examples of how you've managed difficult people?
Engineer
I applied online and then had an HR phone interview. After that, I took an online test. The next part was an assessment center where I did standard IQ and personality tests, followed by some group work. The final stage was a face-to-face interview with a group.
- Tell me about yourself.
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
- Describe a time you faced a challenge and how you overcame it.
