Cashier
I sent in my application online and got a call back really quickly, like within a few days, to come in for an interview. When I got there, they had me wait in the employee lounge. Someone working there mentioned they'd been interviewing tons of people all week. The interviewer was really nice and made me feel comfortable. She asked me about my previous jobs and what I knew about the store. She pointed out that my class schedule, which is in the afternoons, might clash with their need for afternoon staff. They did send an email a few days later to let me know they'd hired someone else, which was better than most places that leave you waiting for ages.
- What makes you want to work for us?
- What can you tell me about our company?
- Tell me about your previous work experience.
Cashier
A friend told me about a cashier opening at OSH, so I applied online. I heard back the next day and got invited for an interview. Arranging a time involved a bit of back-and-forth emailing with different people. Finally, a time was set. I was told to ask for someone and wait in the upstairs break room. The interviewer was late and seemed rushed. She was friendly, but I felt like she wasn't really focused on me, just checking off a task. She'd ask a question, then interrupt me to answer the phone before I could finish my answer. This happened three times. After the last interruption, she'd just move on to a new question without letting me finish the previous one. Once she was done, she said I'd hear back by the end of the next week. When I didn't, I called a few days into the following week and was told they were still interviewing because it was their busiest hiring and sales time (spring). This happened two more times, with the same outcome: "We haven't made our decisions yet, but will contact you at the end of next week." After almost a month of this, I finally got the interviewer on the phone myself and was told they went with someone else. I found the whole thing really frustrating and felt like they were stringing me along.
- Why do you think you're a good fit for this job?
- Tell me about a tough situation at a past job and how you dealt with it.
Cashier
I applied online and then got a phone interview about a week later. I think it was with HR, they asked basic questions about my experience and availability. Then I got an offer to interview with the store manager. It was about 10 minutes and included standard retail interview questions. The manager was nice during the interview. It took a few weeks to get a call back with an offer.
- Can you tell me what you know about our company?
- What are some of your strengths?
- What are some of your weaknesses?
