Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Orbis Investments.
Operations
First, there's usually a quick phone call where they want to learn a bit about you. Then, it's typically two or three in-person interviews with the senior managers.
- Which company would you invest in if you had the chance, and what's your reasoning?
Operations
The process started with an online form, and if that went well, there was a telephone interview. After that, it moved to an assessment centre or selection day. The internship team was really helpful and answered questions as we went, making sure we were kept in the loop.
- Tell me what you enjoyed most about your previous internship.
Operations
I applied online and the next day I got an email invitation to do a self-assessment quiz online and an in-person interview. The interviewers seemed unprepared and were making up questions as they went along. They were also late, which I understand can happen when things get busy. It felt like one of those interviews where employers get paid while candidates don't and my time was being wasted. There were two interviewers, but one just observed and didn't ask any questions, showing a clear lack of preparation or coordination. There were no behavioral questions, only questions directly from my resume.
- What was your reason for choosing your school?
