The process was pretty easy and fast. They reached out to see when I was free, we met up for the interview, and then they let me know about the offer over the phone. It all happened pretty quick, around 2 weeks from start to finish.

I submitted my application online and then had a phone interview a few weeks later. If that went well, I would get an invitation for an in-office interview, which I received a week after the phone screen. The in-office interview was scheduled for the next week. I met with key people from the department and some HR reps. They asked a series of prepared questions about how I'd handle different situations to gauge my personality and skills. I had a feeling they already had an internal candidate and were just going through the motions with external applicants, which is pretty common and sometimes illegal, though they'd never admit it.

It was a two step interview process. My first interview was a phone interview which involved HR calling me about my qualifications and confirming things on my resume and rating in a scale of 1-10 about how well I was at Microsoft programs. I got a call about a week later for a second interview at the main offices. I met with two hiring managers and the HR recruiter and we had a panel interview. They went around and asked about 10 questions. Got an email a few days later with no offer.

The interview process was quite straightforward. It was a panel interview, conducted entirely virtually, which I found a bit challenging as I usually prefer in-person interactions. It felt very structured and not very conversational, and I think it would have been easier with just one interviewer.

  • Can you introduce yourself and share an example of a leadership experience?
  • Could you tell me about yourself and a time you demonstrated leadership?
