First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Optus.
Sales Assistant
If your resume passes the initial screening, you'll start with a video interview. It took about a month to schedule a phone interview after that. Following the phone interview, I received an invitation for an in-person interview at the store a week later.
- Could you start by telling us a bit about yourself?
- What would you say are your greatest strengths?
- Can you describe a situation where you had to handle a challenging customer?
Sales Representative
The interview process was good, easy and straightforward. It felt like a natural conversation and they asked me generic questions. I was asked to sell an item as this was for a sales role in store. The process was efficient and took 3 weeks in total.
- Could you please sell me an item of your choosing.
Sales Assistant
The interview process started with recorded video responses to common questions. If successful, the next step was a 15-minute phone interview with a recruiter. My scheduled interview with Jasmin didn't happen at the agreed time. After I followed up, she said she was double-booked and would reschedule. Within an hour, I received an email stating I missed the job opportunity. This lack of transparency and communication from Optus was very disappointing and put me at a disadvantage compared to other candidates, contradicting the company culture they presented.
- Describe how you'd manage a conflict with a teammate.
- Can you share an instance from your past where you resolved a conflict?
