First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Optus.
Sales Associate
I had this interview at Optus Hirevue Video Interview. It was like, 5 random questions, and you get 2 tries for each, with a 1 minute max limit per question, and 30 seconds to prep. They give you 1 practice run before the real recorded answers. After it was done, they gave some insights, which made me think it's all AI.
- How would you resolve a disagreement with a teammate? Can you share a past experience where you managed conflict?
- Tell me about a time you dealt with a conflict with someone on your team.
Sales Associate
I put in my application on the Singtel Careers site. They got back to me about 3 weeks to a month after applying. I was starting to think they weren't gonna move forward with an interview, but then they asked me to submit a video interview within 5 days. The video interview was pretty intense since you only get one shot to record yourself and you don't have much time to prep. Quick tip: keep a notebook handy with common interview questions to glance at during prep time, and also a notepad for bullet points if a question comes up that you haven't thought about. There were about 7 questions in the digital interview, and it took around 20 minutes. It's been 3 weeks since I sent in the video interview and I'm still waiting to hear back. Apparently, I've been shortlisted to the hiring manager since August according to Singtel, so they likely haven't checked out my video yet.
- Can you share an instance where you displayed outstanding sales abilities?
- Could you introduce yourself and explain what sets you apart from other applicants?
- How would you navigate a challenging scenario?
Sales Associate
This interview process is very straightforward. A standard resume is sufficient. You'll get a call to schedule an interview. During the interview, you'll need to explain why you're a good fit for the role. It's crucial to emphasize your experience, but if you lack experience, keep your answers concise and clear. Strong communication skills are essential, and being able to state your main point effectively will demonstrate your capability as a salesperson representing the Optus brand. It's not overly difficult.
- How would you manage irate customers who are upset with the store/staff/company, threatening to depart, or even threatening physical harm to staff, due to dissatisfaction with Optus' warranty processing times or their procedures for refunds, contract terminations, or dealing with faulty products?
