Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Optiv.
Security Engineer
The interview process at Optiv was very well organized and professional. It was difficult but fair, and everything ran on time. The questions were relevant to the job description. Overall, it was a friendly and pleasant experience. They made me feel comfortable before the interviews even started by highlighting my resume with accolades. I highly recommend Optiv for any Cybersecurity job or career.
- What are your key strengths and why are you the best candidate for this role?
Security Engineer
I applied and after about 2 weeks, a recruiter emailed me. They immediately shared the salary range, which was less than what was posted. I told them it was below my asking salary. Two weeks later, another recruiter contacted me and we spoke on the phone. I shared my salary range, and they said it was workable. We scheduled an interview with an engineer, which went well. Then I was referred to a panel interview. Three days after that, I was offered a role. The recruiter called and said they were excited to offer me a role, but it was 20k under my asking salary. I pointed out that this was not what we agreed upon, and they said it was their best and final offer.
- Can you trace the journey of a network packet?
SIEM Engineer
Got a call from a recruiter first, then did a Hireview. After that, there were a few one on one phone interviews, and it finished with a group phone interview. Should have asked more about benefits though, they're pretty limited. I would have bailed on the interviews if I knew that.
- Can you tell me about your experience with the SIEM product you would be maintaining?
- Could you describe your previous consulting experience?
- Do you have experience with process improvement methodologies like ITIL or Six Sigma?
