Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Optibus.
Senior Software Engineer
The interview process involved two technical interviews. The first was a live coding session with two engineers based in Israel. For the second, I completed a take-home assignment and then presented my solution to the team. Following that, I had a cultural fit interview with the team manager, and finally, a call with HR to discuss salary. The process was generally fair but took quite a while.
- Some basic questions about Javascript were asked.

The interview had two main parts: first, an HR call, and then a technical interview. It was a really smooth and clear process. They talked about the company, the team, and the work, which was helpful. Then, there was a live coding part where I had to fix and improve some TypeScript code. It felt more like a conversation than an interrogation. It was a good experience and gave me a feel for the company culture.
- What are the ways to improve handling multiple promises?
Software Engineer
The behavioural part was good, but the technical interview felt like an interrogation. There was no time for intros or for me to ask any questions, just rapid-fire questions. The interviewer had a long list of questions and wanted every single detail. They seemed unsatisfied and uninterested no matter what I said. They didn't respond to or show interest in any of my answers. The interviewer asked open-ended hypothetical questions and after each answer kept pushing with "and then what would you do". It was a degrading and demoralizing experience overall. I don't recommend it and hope you don't get this interviewer.
- What would you do if a customer reports the product is down?
- If your initial attempt to fix it doesn't work, what's your next step?
- And if that still doesn't resolve the issue, what would you do then?
