Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Opportunities for Learning.
Substitute Teacher
The application and interview process was reasonable. It took a few weeks to get the interview and then I heard back pretty quickly. I interviewed with a panel of four people for about 30-45 minutes about my work history, personality, and career goals.
- Can you describe the most challenging situation you've faced as a substitute teacher?
- Could you tell me about your experience in education?
Teacher
My application was followed by interviews, and that was basically it. I interviewed a few times and didn't get hired until I applied to Palmdale, probably because nobody wants to work there. It was a straightforward process, but it took ages for them to favor me.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment with our institution?
Teacher
The interview focused on my teaching skills and how I manage a classroom. I talked about my lesson delivery style and my methods for checking student understanding. The interviewer was interested in hearing more about my teaching experience. Overall, it felt like a solid and sufficient interview process.
- What's your approach to handling a challenging student?
