Site Reliability Engineer
The people who interviewed me were nice and knew their stuff. They started by asking me general 'what is it and what's it for' questions. They also asked me general technical stuff about coding and monitoring. I think they wanted detailed answers.
- What is your understanding of Python libraries and their purposes?
- Could you share your experience with monitoring tools?
- What can you tell me about Python's libraries?
Recruiting Associate
Applied online and got a call for a phone screen soon after. The phone screen was pretty standard and conversational. They said they'd get back to me for next steps, and I sent a thank you note. The next day, they reached out to schedule the next round. I gave my availability and waited a few days with no response. I followed up again, and still nothing. I followed up one last time, and after two weeks, it was clear I'd been ghosted. I figured the role was closed, but later saw on LinkedIn it had been filled. It was upsetting and unprofessional to be misled and ghosted like that.
- How do you manage your organization when you have a lot of tasks to do?
Information Technology
I went through 4 rounds ending with the hiring manager. I really enjoyed the time with the team members I spoke with. I made it to the 4th and final round which was with the hiring manager. That round was going well too until the last question I was asked which was my salary requirements. I replied with my current salary and bonus and quickly she replied I’m not in the range for the role. A role I just spent 4+hours/4 rounds interviewing for. I was very honest and transparent from day 1 with the interview coordinator and told her what my current salary and bonus is and what would be required to make a move. So I spent 4 hours/4 rounds interviewing for a role where my salary requirements never were in their range for this role. I was told it really just depends on exactly what the hiring manager is looking for. I was more than qualified for the role I was interviewing for (as stated by other members I interviewed with) so this final statement from the internal recruiter was confusing. My suggestion is simply don’t do this to people. Know what your range is for the role and don’t accept applicants that are outside the range(s) you’re willing to pay for unless they agree to take the pay cut. As a double digit year U.S. Veteran it’s disheartening knowing this practice happens here. Good luck if you decide to interview here, I surely hope your experience is better than this.
- Tell me about your salary expectations.
- What is your current salary and bonus?
- What is your desired compensation to make a career move?
Business Systems Owner
The interview process included a phone interview, followed by a coding challenge where I signed an NDA. Then there was a video interview and a final 4-hour session. This session covered project management topics, Google Spreadsheets, a resume review, and a meeting with the CTO. Everyone I met was fantastic! Alexis was a pleasure to work with, and the Director I would report to was amazing and very supportive. The 4-hour multi-session interview was comprehensive, including role-playing questions, hands-on problem-solving, and a resume review. Overall, everyone at OppLoans is welcoming, and I'm grateful for the experience. I wish the OppLoans team continued success!
- Can you explain how you estimate project task duration and manage uncertainty in those estimates?
- Describe your approach to presenting schedules and whether you utilize Gantt charts.
- For an out-of-the-box solution needing integration with single sign-on (SAML) and role-based access, what project management framework would you propose?
