Behavioral Other

2 interviews total, the first one was with a recruiter and the second one with the collections supervisor. The whole process was remote, but they do have a face-to-face socio-labor study, a medical certificate, and a drug test, all paid for by the company. They ask a lot of personal questions during the socio-economic study, and the medical certificate is done via Zoom. The drug test is done at Salud Digna.

So first, the recruiters do a quick check of applications. If you meet the basic criteria, you get moved to the next stage. Then, there's an interview, round 1, where they check your technical or functional skills. After that, they give you a take-home case study to work on. Once that's done, you'll have some deep-dive interviews with senior folks or hiring managers, checking how you solve problems, lead, and if you fit the culture. The very last interview is with senior leadership or other teams, focusing on strategy and how you'd fit in. Then they make a decision and extend an offer.

Coding System Design

I wanted to share my experience with Oportun to warn others. After 4 rounds of interviews and discussing compensation, I submitted all my documents for verification, and was told an offer was coming. The recruiter even confirmed one level of approval was done for my offer. But after weeks of chasing and repeated assurances from HR, I was shocked to find the position was already filled. They then asked me to interview for a different team, which was totally unprofessional and disorganized. This whole thing makes me question Oportun's hiring process and how they communicate internally. It feels like they string candidates along with no respect for their time. I even turned down another job offer based on Oportun's assurances, only to be left hanging. I'd advise others to seriously reconsider Oportun unless they fix their hiring process. The lack of honesty and respect is really bad.

Confirmed questions3 questions

Coding Technical

I had an interview with Oportun, and the first round was through Intervue Team. The interviewer asked a Leetcode Hard dynamic programming question and expected a solution with all test cases passing in 20-25 minutes, as they had many questions for the 60-minute slot. I managed to write the DP code and explain it, but the interviewer seemed not to grasp my logic. Typically, a hard problem needs at least 40-45 minutes, but this interviewer seemed unaware, likely having just googled the problem. He asked me to stop coding, and when I said I needed 10 more minutes, he moved on to other questions, which I answered. The interviewer was very rushed, not allowing time to think or respond. I feel Intervue Team should train their interviewers better. I tried to give feedback to the Oportun HR afterwards, but they didn't take my call.
