First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at OpenX.
Senior Software Engineer
This was one of the worst interviews I've ever had; it felt more like a popularity contest than a genuine assessment. It was solely a coding interview, with no other discussions, Q&A sessions, or behavioral questions. There was no system design component either, and I didn't even get a chance to ask my own questions about the project. Even though I completed the coding task correctly, I wasn't selected because of subjective reasons, like their opinions on my code style. It was a complete waste of time, and I'd advise others to avoid it.
- Solve the Pivot Index problem.
Software Development Engineer
I had a call with a recruiter, then a call with a manager, and finally a technical interview. The recruiter was really nice and professional. The manager interview felt like a good conversation, which was great. The technical interview had two recruiters. Most questions seemed to be about DevOps, but they only seemed to consider one specific solution, which was a bit frustrating since I had already mentioned my DevOps experience. The vibe during the technical interview wasn't the best; one recruiter seemed really dismissive at the end. When I asked if they were hiring for lower-level positions, one said yes, but the other cut him off and said no. It felt a bit awkward, and I wouldn't want anyone to go through that.
- Can you describe your experience with DevOps?
Software Engineer
So I had my interview with OpenX. First, there was an online test on Hackerrank for 90 minutes with 4 programming questions, it was pretty tight on time and I couldn't finish the last one. Then, a phone technical screen where they asked me programming, design patterns, and other algorithms questions. Finally, the onsite interview, which had 7 people interviewing me. Four of them were for algorithm coding questions, one for system design, and the other two were just lunch sessions where we talked.
- After completing the coding part of the phone technical screen, can you share which design pattern you've used?
- Could you please write the code for the Singleton pattern?
