I had a recruiter screening first, then a phone interview with a software engineer. The phone interview was about programming concepts like OOP and SQL, plus a coding exercise where I had to explain my approach over the phone. After that, I got invited for an on-site interview. The on-site was 5 rounds in about 4 hours with different people and teams. Two of those rounds involved technical whiteboarding. The problems were similar to LeetCode easy/medium, which I felt prepared for. I thought the on-site went well, but they eventually sent a rejection stating they were moving forward with other candidates. One thing to note is the recruiter was really unresponsive; it took about a week to get an email reply.

Had an HR phone screen, then a 60 minute technical phone screen, followed by a 90 minute onsite interview. Java was super important. All coding answers had to be in Java. The HR screen was typical stuff about my resume and why I wanted to work at OpenMarket. The technical phone screen had one coding and one design question. The interviewer wasn't super engaged but did answer my questions about the company. Heard back about the onsite 4 weeks later. Scheduling the onsite was a pain, only noon slots were available, so I had to take a day off or skip class. The onsite was broken into three 30 minute parts. First was a chat with the engineering manager. Second was a design/coding question. Third was just coding. They really stressed using Java-specific terms like HashMap or TreeMap, not generic ones like 'dictionary' or 'hash table.' Apparently, they misunderstood me on the design part when I used 'dictionary,' which isn't a real Java data structure, and I got dinged for it.

Applied online and talked to HR first. Then had a phone screen with HR, followed by a technical screen with an engineer. Finally, there were several interviews with team members. The process was straightforward and direct, but also very personable and fun. They seemed like genuinely nice people who cared about getting to know you and seeing if you were a good cultural fit, in addition to having the technical skills. It didn't work out this time, but I'd happily reapply for another role. It seems like a great place to work with good people.
