First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Onward Technologies Limited.
Python Software Developer
The interview was about 30 minutes long. The interviewer asked me about my previous work and about Python. The interviewer's style was quite rude, like they were trying to win the conversation rather than have a discussion. That's how the interview felt.
- Can you tell me about your past working experience?
- Show me how to use a decorator in Python.
- How do you add or update an item in a Python dictionary?
Software Engineer
The interview process included a technical round where they checked coding skills, system design, and maybe a take-home test. Then there was a managerial round for leadership and decision-making questions. Lastly, an HR round to see if I'd fit with the company culture and mission. They want to make sure candidates are technically sound and good team players.
- What prompted your job change?
.NET Developer
The interview process had two technical rounds. Round 1 was a Technical L1, covering .NET concepts, C#, ASP.NET, Web API, and SQL, and included some programming tasks. Round 2 was Technical L2, focusing on SOLID principles, design patterns, and coding, and it was quite long, lasting about 1.5 hours. Even though I answered questions correctly and did the coding, the process felt too long and tiring. I was rejected afterward without clear reasons. The overall experience wasn't great because the panel was technical, but it was hard to tell what they were looking for. Getting rejected after performing well without any explanation was frustrating, especially after putting in the effort.
- What are the core concepts in .NET, common design patterns, and the SOLID principles?
Staff Embedded Software QA Engineer
It started with an HR chat to get to know my profile. The first round was a team interview where they asked about projects, testing methods, and some coding problems like factorial and string reversal. They also asked about segmentation faults, dangling pointers, basic Linux commands (mkdir), and Python libraries like NumPy, mentioning the team uses Python scripting for their testing framework. The second round was also technical, starting with background questions, then a scenario where I had to develop Python code. Lastly, they asked basic Agile methodology questions like what a product backlog and velocity are.
- Can you parse a log file, filtering by a specified level like INFO, ERROR, or WARNING?
- Can you implement an optional keyword search, for instance, to find 'Sensor' within logs of the ERROR level?
- Can you output just the message part of the log, excluding the timestamp and log level when not needed?
