First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ontario Power Generation.
Intern
Applied directly to an interview, which then led to an offer. The interview was conducted over Teams. Two senior team members were present. They decide which team you would be the best fit for and you interview with that team. It was about five behavioral and two technical questions. The interviewers made me feel comfortable and we could joke around. They introduced themselves very politely. This might differ with other interviewers.
- Can you explain how OPG assets generate power?
- Which programming language do you have the most proficiency in?
- Describe a situation where you implemented a new process. What metrics were utilized to assess its effectiveness?
Electrical Intern
They started with explaining how the process was going to work, then moved on to asking questions. Standard behavioral questions were asked, like 'tell me about yourself' and 'tell me about a time when'. The interviewers were friendly. They took notes the whole time, but I didn't get an offer, so I guess I didn't do that well.
- Describe a situation where you enhanced a process.
Co-Op Student
This was a single interview round with two people interviewing me. They asked seven questions in total. Two of them were technical, and the rest were behavioral, focusing on things like workplace disagreements, leadership, and dealing with tough situations. The questions were generally easy to medium in difficulty.
- In terms of handling work conflict, what is your approach?
- Could you describe a challenging situation you've faced and how you managed it?
- Tell me about a time you showed leadership.
