First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Onity Group.
Software Engineer
The interview was pretty straightforward with a standard SQL question. The interviewer seemed a bit strict, but the questions themselves were easy. It's important to note that at Onity, personal connections seem to be key. The systems are quite outdated, and the DBAs are the main challenge; they tend to view other team members as adversaries. I think the Onity Group in Bangalore could benefit from some cultural improvements.

- We have some SQL related questions for you.
Software Engineer
First up, your application gets screened based on your resume, CGPA, skills, and projects. Make sure your resume is awesome, highlighting skills (Java, Web Dev, DSA), projects (Task Manager, Sudoku Solver, AI Virtual Assistant), and certifications (ML, Python, Generative AI). Then comes the Online Assessment (OA) / Aptitude Test, which is usually the first cut. It has Aptitude (quantitative, logical reasoning, verbal ability), Coding (1–3 problems on arrays, strings, hashing, recursion, DP, etc.), and Technical MCQs (OOPs, DBMS, OS, CN, Java basics). Sometimes they throw in Pseudocode or Debugging questions. Lastly, Technical Interview(s) – usually 1–2 rounds. They'll grill you on DSA: arrays, strings, recursion, sorting, searching, hashing, linked list, trees, graphs (basics). Core CS topics like OOP, DBMS, OS, CN, SDLC are also on the table. You'll need to write/modify code in your preferred language (Java for you). Get ready to talk about your projects (Task Manager Website, Sudoku Solver, AI Assistant, etc.) → why you built it, tech stack, challenges, and outcomes. They're keen on your problem-solving approach, not just the answer.
- Can you tell me all about object-oriented programming?
