Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at OneMain Financial.
Software Engineer
Honestly, it was a bad experience. The steps weren't clear, people were late or didn't show up, and different interviewers kept asking the same things and seemed unsure about the role itself. It felt both rushed and drawn out. Communication was poor, follow-ups were slow, and the whole thing felt disorganized and a bit careless.
- How do you handle pressure?
- What's your pace of work?
- What are your thoughts on some random technical topics unrelated to this job?
Software Engineer
Had a first screening, then an interview 15 days later. They ghosted me without proper rejection, not even providing feedback, which was a bad experience. It's better to get feedback, positive or negative.
- Can you tell me about your past experience and your knowledge of Java in detail?
Software Engineer
I had a quick phone chat first, and then they set up another interview right away. The next interview was a group panel that lasted a total of an hour. For every half hour, I was interviewed by two managers at once. After this interview, they took about two days to get back to me, and when they did, I was told that my application was moving forward and that if my background check came back okay, I'd get another call. About 5 days after that, they gave me a job offer.
- Why do you want to work here?
- What kind of job would you want?
- Would you rather be a business analyst or a programmer?
