Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at OneMain Financial.
Financial Representative
It was a standard first interview with the Branch Manager, then a second interview with the District Manager, followed by an offer meeting with the District Manager. The questions asked were pretty standard. I discussed my qualifications, education, relevant college courses, and my motivation for joining the company. The first interview's questions weren't too difficult and it was pretty conversational. The second interview was a bit more stressful but mostly similar to the first.
- Given your degree, how do you see yourself succeeding in a lending position?
- Could you elaborate on your qualifications?
- Tell me about your educational background.

it was a laid back interview process. i first met with the branch manager at the branch that i would be working at. he seemed cool and a bit nervous, he had a list of interview question that he kept referencing which made for an awkward interview. Next i waited about a week and heard from the branch manager that i would be meeting with the district manager at another branch. this interview was much more relaxed and conversational. he basically just told me about the nature of the job and explained springleaf's position in the market place. i basically was told i had the job on the spot and started 2 weeks later after background and reference checks.
- Tell me about one of your proudest achievements.

I applied online and the very next day, the Branch Manager from Southaven MS called me. She asked if I could come in for an interview the following day. I went and we talked for about 45 minutes, going over my resume. It was a pretty conversational and laid-back interview, and she was really nice. At the end, she asked if I could come back the next day to meet with her district manager. I said yes. I met with him, and he reviewed my resume and asked a lot about my sales experience. He also told me about the company's history. Then, he went on a 2-hour tangent about himself, relocating with the company, his wife hating her job, and their kids. He talked about all the opportunities at Springleaf and how he loves coming to work to get away from his wife. Afterwards, he said I'd hear back in a few days via a phone call from recruiting. I never heard back. It was a huge waste of my time.
- Would you be comfortable making visits a few times weekly to generate business from the local area and build connections with banks and nearby businesses?
