Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at One Acre Fund.
Incident Manager
The interviewer wasn't very formal, and the questions felt like they were AI-generated. There were a lot of them, and the call lasted over an hour with questions that didn't seem to relate to each other. It was quite exhausting and could definitely use some improvement.
- What are the processes you follow for managing an incident?
People Manager
A pleasant associate recruiter from New York called me after I applied on LinkedIn. She mentioned the interview process would be lengthy. The first response after the initial interview took over a month.
- What is your definition of leadership, and can you share examples of how you've led your team previously?
- How are you doing today?
Policy Manager
I had an initial informational interview with one of the managing partners. After that, the way they handled my application was really poor, which was surprising given my international experience. It felt very different and unprofessional compared to other places. The whole hiring process was not transparent and didn't seem productive. I wouldn't advise people with offers from places like the UN or NGOs to waste their time here. It feels like an exclusive group.
- I was asked a mix of competency-based questions and some technical questions that were outside the scope of the role I applied for during the Skype interview.
- One question was completely unrelated, asking about agriculture, which is not my area of expertise.
