I got in touch via LinkedIn and a recruiter set up a phone screen. After that, I had an in-person meeting with the rest of the team and the hiring manager. There were three people there. The interview was about two hours long and we spent most of the time on an exercise they had prepared to see how I would approach the role. I didn't really like the interview style. The questions themselves were okay, but they didn't really focus on the job or any strategy. It felt too narrow and like a dated, uninspired company culture. I also found out they were really looking for someone with strong content strategy/development skills for specific platforms, which is more like a content manager than a channel marketing manager. I decided to withdraw from the process because it didn't seem like a good cultural fit.

I applied online. Then I got a request for a phone interview. The phone interview was pretty standard. They asked about my past jobs, my education, what I know about OnCourse, more about the specific role and what it entails, my salary expectations, and they finished with questions from me and an idea of when to expect next steps. After that, I had an in-person interview. This one was also standard. I met with a director, a manager, and someone from HR. They asked about my experiences and threw in a few technical questions. It was a really nice and casual interview.

It started with a quick recruiter phone screen, and then there was supposed to be a one hour phone interview with the CEO. The CEO cancelled once, and then the interview never happened because the recruiter didn't confirm the call even though I asked them to. Honestly, for a VP role, you'd think they'd use a more experienced recruiter. It was really disappointing.

I had a quick chat with the recruiter first. Then, I went through two rounds of interviews on Teams with people from the department. They said I'd hear back about a decision within a week, but it's been over a month, and I haven't heard anything at all. No updates or anything.
