Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Oncor Electric Delivery.
Associate Engineer
The whole process, which started at a college job fair, spanned about three weeks and included a second onsite interview. The onsite experience was really well done; they covered all our expenses and even treated us to a great dinner. It lasted for 6 hours and included a lunch break. We met with 3 different panel groups, each representing a specific area within the engineering department. They mostly explained their work and how they collaborate. Everyone was friendly and approachable. The questions mainly focused on our past projects, both personal and academic, and what our specific contributions were.
- Can you tell us about your experience with project management?
- Could you describe a grid system in broad terms?
Associate Engineer
The interview process started after a casual lunch with the engineering team, where I got a good sense of the daily life of an Oncor engineer. It was the most relaxed and least nerve-wracking interview I've ever experienced. They mainly asked behavioral questions, like what makes a good leader and the strengths you think you have.
- Can you share an instance where you had to suggest an alternative approach to your team to achieve a certain objective?
- What qualities do you identify in a good leader?
- What are some of your key strengths?
Associate Engineer
I first met with two oncor employees at my school's career fair. The next day, I got a call to set up an interview for the day after that. I interviewed with the same people from the career fair, and they asked me a bunch of questions, mostly behavioral. It was pretty chill, not intense. Then, I got another call to schedule an interview at the main office.
- Could you explain the process of power transmission?
