Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at On.
Product Manager
The interview process started with a recruiter call to go over my experience. Then, I had an interview with the Hiring Manager to see if I was a good fit for the role. After that, there was a case study that I had a week to complete, followed by a presentation of my findings. Finally, I had four interviews with different people from various departments.
- Can you share your background and experience?
- What attracts you to On?
- What are your expectations for your manager?
Product Manager
We started with a phone call with HR, then had a Skype call with the hiring manager. After that, I received a case study to complete. The final stage was an in-person, 3-hour interview where I had to present and discuss the case study and also meet some of the team. The people were generally nice, but there are two significant areas for improvement in their hiring process: the overall hiring process feels immature. Interviewers sometimes seemed insensitive, mentioning how much they interview others, which can come across as unprofessional. Additionally, they tend to extend the process longer than necessary, which has started to give them a bad reputation in Zurich. They often take candidates deep into the process, even through a case study or multiple interviews, before ultimately rejecting them.
- A case study to be completed at home. They suggested allocating about an hour, but realistically, a higher quality submission would require more time.
Product Management Intern
After sending in my application, I had to send in a short video about myself and my motivation, which had a 90-minute time limit. Then, I had a video interview with my future boss to discuss general workload and tasks. Finally, I had a video interview with my future teammates where we talked more specifically about my experience.
- What does innovation mean to you?
- How would you foster innovation within a company?
- What has been your personal highlight so far?
