First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at OmniVision Technologies.
Software Engineer
I had one phone call interview with this company. They asked me about basic CS concepts and my background based on my resume. I haven't heard back from them after the call.
- Can you tell me about your background?
- What are the basic CS concepts you know?
Software Engineer
This is a campus recruitment process. It included two rounds of telephone interviews and an on-site examination. Each interview was about 30 minutes long. The interviews covered basic profile questions and fundamental knowledge about picture and camera usage. The on-site exam was more comprehensive, including image processing questions, coding exercises, and machine learning topics. It was a good opportunity to showcase your strengths.
- How do you take a good photo? Discuss skills like white balance, exposure, and focus.
- Can you tell me about basic photography concepts and camera equipment?
Software Engineer
The interview process was pretty easy, though I was a bit unsure if the hiring manager and upper management (like VPs) were aligned on the skills and technical background they were seeking. My impression was they were mainly looking to bring people in to learn about some of the leading technologies they're developing. It felt like a company run in a Taiwanese style, with a lot of Chinese speakers. I was even asked if I was Chinese. After the interview, HR didn't follow up, which I found unprofessional.
- Can you describe the technologies you've developed throughout your career?
