Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Omnipresent.
Software Engineer
The hiring process was good. Everyone was nice and helpful. It included: 1. A phone interview. 2. A take-home technical assignment. 3. A meeting with a Staff Engineer to go over how I'd approach the technical assignment, and talk about past experience and projects. 4. A meeting with an Engineering Manager and a Project Manager. 5. A meeting with an Engineering Manager. They seem to check not just tech skills, but also communication and cultural fit.
- Can you tell me about a past project where you learned something new?
- Describe a time you had a conflict with a coworker and how you handled it.
Software Engineer
I'm appalled by how Omnipresent handled my application for the Senior Software Engineer position. I spent hours on their home tests and went through four interview rounds, all of which seemed successful. I even got to the final interview with the hiring manager. After all that, they just ghosted me. No feedback, no rejection, nothing. I followed up several times, expecting some basic professional courtesy, but got complete silence. This is unacceptable, especially from a company that claims to value people. If this is how they treat candidates, I can only imagine how they treat employees. Total waste of time—avoid them!
- Can you discuss event reliability and replication?
- What are your thoughts on topics covered in the 'Data Intensive Applications' book?
Software Engineer
The overall interview process was great and ran really smoothly. The recruiter was accommodating with my scheduling requests for the date and time. Communication was excellent throughout. It was always clear what the next step in the process would be and how long I would have to wait for an update. I enjoyed speaking with everyone, and each stage tested me in a unique way. The interviews felt like working together, and I got to meet a diverse group of people at the company.
- Can you describe a past challenge you encountered and how you'd approach it differently now?
- What conditions are essential for your success in this position?
- Have you experienced working in a fast-paced startup environment where daily changes are common?
