Sales Representative
I was hesitant about this job due to negative reviews, but the recruiter seemed good, pay was weekly, and it looked like a fast hiring process. However, the last interview round went badly, and I saw many red flags matching the bad reviews. The hiring manager was abrasive and arrogant. She called it the 'hardest sales job ever', criticized my past experience, downplayed my answers, spoke condescendingly, interrupted me, and laughed during the mock interview. I knew I didn't want the job then. I asked about high turnover, market saturation, and what top earners were doing. She became defensive, talking about people who 'tried to reinvent the wheel' or didn't follow their 'methodology and process', or weren't assertive, driven, or followed the script. Successful people are probably micromanaged and work long hours out of need. I got the impression it's a hard product to sell, people struggle with quotas, and there's a lot of blaming employees. I'd avoid it.
- What's your plan if you're not hitting your sales quota?
Inside Sales Representative
The recruiter was great, but the hiring process felt a bit much for this kind of job. The information and what they expected was pretty misleading, which caused some confusion during the interview. A tip for this place: be confident and ambitious, but don't believe everything you hear. They want someone who learns fast and can handle criticism. Best bet is to read the provided material word-for-word. No need to try and impress them too much at first; just get the job and then show your own skills. Don't be too upset if you don't get it, it might be a good thing. Better opportunities are out there.
- What are your thoughts on using scripts in sales?
Sales
Unlike typical call centers that hire a lot of people and hope some stay, OllyOlly has a really thorough interview process. It's one of the longest I've experienced in this field. They're looking for top talent and make sure they get it by involving everyone from recruiters to Managers/Directors to the VP of Sales. This shows they're invested in their team, culture, and development.
- Can you share your career journey and how you arrived at your current position?
