The interview process was way too long and involved too many people. Scheduling conflicts made the timeline drag out. The hiring manager and I had a good connection. However, I was left hanging for over a week and had to contact the recruiter multiple times. In the end, they told me another candidate with broader experience got the job, but that I was a front-runner and they'd keep my resume. I saw the same job posted again online about a month later. I reached out to the recruiter to talk about the opportunity since they supposedly 'liked me so much,' but she never replied. It was unprofessional.

The interview process started with a recruiter call to check eligibility and discuss salary. Next, there was a coding challenge with 9 questions, including 5 MCQs and 4 coding problems of varying difficulty. After that, I had a technical interview with the Director, which included both technical and behavioral questions. Finally, I interviewed with a Manager to discuss my coding challenge answers and resume projects. The overall process was good. Shoutout to Alex from HR for being super responsive and clear with all my questions, one of the best recruiters I've encountered recently. He really handled all my concerns. Kudos to the Olive HR team for their excellent work.

I applied on LinkedIn and then had a phone interview. The interviewer was late and didn't seem to know much about the job. It seemed like this role is still being figured out and is supposed to cover a lot of different areas like branding, redesign, migration, data optimization, and editorial processes, plus other things. I figured it's a catch-all role to build out a department after they haven't defined what they actually need. So, I withdrew my application.

I did an online coding test with some developers, and we talked about culture and coding practices, and I sat in on some daily stand-ups. I also talked to HR about salary and benefits, and what the job is like, and about remote work. After the recruiter told me they accepted me and were finding a team, I never heard back. I contacted someone there and got passed to another recruiter who also ghosted me. It felt like a total waste of time since they said they wanted me and then I heard nothing. Reviews suggest this is normal for them. I also heard they push employees to work overtime for the company's success and discourage using the 'Unlimited PTO' they advertise.
