I was contacted through a consultant about a QA Manager role for Ola Store, but the interviewer revealed it was actually for Ola Cabs. I was told I'd speak with the Head of Engineering after a tech round, but on the day, I spoke with a QA Manager who seemed more like a people manager than a technical one, despite claiming an IC role. I tried to explain my current product and its functions, and he asked about technical concepts like OAuth, twisting their usual meaning. He then asked me to test a custom API without specifying I needed to consider its design and hidden dependencies. Following that, he asked me to write a program to reverse a string without using any built-in libraries, not even string functions. He himself used string functions later, and after some prompting, admitted to them. He assumed things that weren't expected. I wasn't convinced by his answers, and I figured he either didn't know the answer or wasn't good at asking questions. After about an hour, HR said the head wasn't available and would get back to me. I left, quite disappointed with the interview process from a company like this. The reason for my low rating isn't the 'No Offer' but the type of interviewer they use. They seem to assume rejection if an interviewee lacks experience in a specific area (likely due to resume screening) or they only want to hear specific answers, not considering alternatives. Their attitude felt dismissive.

The interview had 3 rounds and lasted for 4 hours. The first round was a coding test with 5 programming questions and 2 algorithm questions. The second round involved a discussion about my projects and the code I'd written, with the team. The third round was with the QA lead, where I answered simple questions correctly but was ultimately rejected, which was disappointing.
