Account Director
Applied online and had a call with the recruitment team, then a short virtual call with a business director. This was followed by a task presented to a client partner and a business director, and then a final meeting with a business director. The process was quite quick up until the later stages, when it was harder to get contact with the teams and obtain any feedback. One frustrating thing is that they use an applicant tracking system and send automatic rejections despite getting to later stages in the process, which can be extremely off-putting when you have spent hours interviewing, preparing tasks, researching various accounts, etc., as you feel like you have to chase for responses.
- Can you describe a recent campaign you managed?
- Could you share an instance where you dealt with a challenging client?
- What aspects of PR are you most interested in?
Account Director
The interview process was really straight forward, starting with a phone screening followed by an interview with the hiring manager over video call. The process was then taken over by Human Resources team to propose and discuss salary and benefits packages, next steps and so on.
- What made you interested in joining us?
- What value do you bring?
Account Director
This was a super long and tough interview process, like I met with like a dozen people across the practice. It started out for a specific role on one account but then turned into a more general opening that they could customize for me. Senior leadership seemed to really dig my background, but weren't sure exactly where I'd fit. So, I ended up coming into the office like five times to chat with different folks to see if I'd be a good match for one account or another. I get they wanted to find a spot I'd like and could grow in, but it was honestly pretty annoying getting emails from HR asking me to come in again to meet one more person. It felt like they weren't respecting my time, especially since I was taking off from my current job for these interviews. I did a writing test, gave them my references, and then... crickets. I followed up and found out that while they were super keen to hire me, they just didn't have the budget for a new person. We're still talking, but I felt kind of misled. My advice would be for Ogilvy PR to make sure they actually need the role before starting interviews. Networking is cool, but both sides need to be clear on what's up from the get-go.
- Tell me about your ideal work environment.
- Describe your management style.
- How do you like to be managed?
