Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at OfficeMax.
Sales Specialist
I had 2 interviews and a meet and greet with the DM. They apparently wanted someone already completely trained in their business however, so it was a waste of time.
- Could you describe the available service options?
Sales Specialist
The interview process included a lot of questions. They asked me to talk about myself, my strengths, and my weaknesses. They also asked why I want this job, where I see myself in five years, what my ideal company is, and what attracted me to this specific company. They wanted to know why they should hire me and what unique skills I bring. I was asked about my previous job responsibilities and why I'm leaving my current role. They also asked what I know about the industry and their company, and if I'm willing to relocate. Finally, they asked if I had any questions for them.
- What did you dislike most about your previous job?
- When did you feel most content in your work?
Sales Consultant
I had one interview with the Store manager and a Senior Sales Consultant. They asked me some basic questions about my previous work experience, my education, and my availability for the work schedule. A lot of the questions were situational, asking what I would do in certain sales scenarios based on my experience. It was mostly situational-based, but overall it wasn't too bad if you had reasonable answers.
- What makes you a good fit for this role?
- What qualifies you for the job?
