I applied online and got a call the very next day for an interview that same day. When I arrived, I was asked to wait in the furniture section for the interviewer. She then asked me some basic questions like 'tell me about yourself', 'why did you apply to our store', and 'what career you wanted after graduation'. She also explained more about the job. Then, she asked about my class schedule, my pay expectations, and if I could picture myself working there. I was offered the job and completed the paperwork for a background check and drug test.

I applied online and they called me back in a few days. They had me come in for a half-hour interview. The assistant manager was called away during the interview every other question, which gave me time to think and come up with good answers. They asked normal questions like why Officemax, what's good customer service, and some personal questions. After that, I got a call for a 'second' interview where the store manager asked me two questions, including when I could start, so it wasn't really a full second interview.

They start with a phone interview, which is very structured, like the manager was reading from a script. My best advice is to research the job description thoroughly. The in-person interview is similar, with a role-play where you have to give a sales pitch for a desk calendar. It can be a bit awkward but is usually funny. Most of the time, if you get an interview, they've already decided to offer you the job; it just depends on whether you accept.
