The application was just a resume drop, cover letter, and maybe references. Very straightforward typical questions. Behaviorals, a couple situations ones about dealing with constituents. However, took a while to get back to me.

I got an email from my school's political science department about an opportunity with Senator Charles Schumer's office. I was keen to apply and sent my resume with a brief note on my interest. I actually applied late and didn't hear back initially. But then, about a week later, someone quit, and they got in touch to see if I was still interested. I confirmed I was and followed up a couple of times before the director finally called me. The phone conversation was pretty relaxed, not really like a formal interview. They asked me a few things about my interest in politics, we went through my resume, and they asked why I thought I'd be a good fit. It was a 15-minute chat, and then I was invited to come in the following Monday to discuss the position more.

I had 2 interviews, scheduled a few days apart. Both were very short, under 15 minutes. Exactly one week later, I found out I got the internship. The interviewers were really nice. The whole process was quite drawn out though, as I applied in February and didn't hear back about an interview until May, so it's probably a good idea to have other options lined up. They asked pretty standard questions.

I applied online, and then after a long while, I got a response (the application was through a program, so it was different). After that, I had a video call interview that lasted about 30 minutes.
