First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Office Depot.
Sales Representative
A recruiter from the company reached out to me after finding my resume on careerbuilder. The first interview was supposed to be 1:1, but it ended up being with the manager and the person directly above the role I applied for. They asked some basic 'tell me about yourself' questions, followed by some situational questions. The interviewers seemed really interested in the questions I asked. The atmosphere was friendly. The work culture seems to require a lot of personal responsibility, which could be a good thing.
- What would a past supervisor say about you?
Sales
First, a recruiter will call to check your qualifications. Then, you'll have a first interview with the manager, who is usually the pushover. After that, you'll have a second interview with the "bad cop."
- Can you share an example of your most successful sales presentation?
Inside Sales Representative
HR will call you first to talk about your sales background and what skills you can bring to Office Depot. Then, a panel of managers will interview you. They want to see that you've been stable in past roles and will ask about any short job tenures. Be ready to answer questions using the STAR method.
- Tell me about a time you failed in a previous job and what you learned from it.
