First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at OEConnection.
Software Engineer
Had a quick initial call with the hiring manager, then a longer technical chat with the Tech Lead and Tech Manager over Teams. It was only 15 minutes, and they'd decide if you were a good fit.
- Tell me about your experience migrating from WordPress to Drupal or other databases.
- Can you explain your in-depth knowledge of caching mechanisms?
- How would you approach connecting to and using multiple databases within your application?
Software Engineer
There were three main rounds after the initial recruiter chat. First, a one-hour meeting with the hiring manager covering technical stuff and soft skills. Then, a deep dive into technical questions with an architect and tech lead, focusing on performance, advanced C#, .NET features, design patterns, and DI container lifetimes. Lastly, a final chat with the engineering director about behavioral and cultural fit. It was interesting because there were no whiteboarding or coding exercises, which I liked.
- Can you explain the differences between scoped, transient, and singleton DI container lifetimes?
- What's your approach to centralizing error handling in a large-scale application?
- How do you approach designing for performance?
Software Engineer
I connected with OEConnection at a school career fair, submitted my resume, and got a call back a few days later for an in-person interview. It wasn't super technical, mostly digging into my resume projects. It was pretty short, around 15-20 minutes and pretty simple, no brain teasers or anything like that.
- Tell me about your hobbies or interests outside of engineering.
