First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Octopus.
Company Secretary
Started with a recruiter call to screen candidates and asked about any needed accommodations. Then there was a Zoom interview followed by an in-person round at their London office. The whole hiring process took about 3-4 weeks from applying to hearing back.

Software Engineer
The interview process had two stages. First, we covered behavioral questions and communication skills. Then, we moved on to technical questions, including DSA (like the difference between arrays and linked lists) and OOP (focusing on its main pillars), problem-solving, and finally, a take-home assignment to build a web API.

Policy Advisor
Second time interviewing with Octopus and ended up getting radio silence. The first time I made it through a few rounds and then heard nothing for over a week, eventually I chased again as I had seen they had relisted the vacancy. A courtesy email to inform candidates would have been appreciated. This time around I had an initial screening call and then had to chase multiple times over three weeks to hear back. I understand giving detailed feedback to all candidates is incredibly time consuming, but just letting unsuccessful candidates know they're unsuccessful after they have made time available to interview and go through at least one round seems like the bare minimum.
- Can you tell me about your CV?
Venture Capital Associate
It began with an HR call, then a chat with a principal, and next a call with an Associate. After that, there was a case study with a review of my findings. It all seemed pretty straightforward, but it felt like things weren't organized well. They actually had me come into the office for the initial HR call, but when I got there, nobody was around. I also got sent an NDA to fill out for the case study. Once I signed and returned it, I started prepping for the case study. Then, just two days before the deadline they gave me, I found out the job had already been filled.
