& Process

The interview process started with an HR Screen call. After that, I was ghosted. It seemed like I wasn't a good fit because they were looking for someone to commit part-time during the school year. I should have followed up more. I can't say much else about it; it didn't seem too bad. The technical interview looked like it was just one round.

So I applied for this Product Manager role at OCLC on February 16th, and man, the interview process was a mess. It all started with a 45-minute first-round phone screen with the recruiter, where I basically talked about my background, projects, and experiences, using STAR method. It seemed to go fine, and then I got a call to schedule a second interview with the hiring manager for the next week. But then, the hiring manager got sick, and it just kept getting rescheduled for like 2-3 weeks. I tried reaching out to HR multiple times over more than a month and a half, but heard nothing. Finally, I had the second interview with the hiring manager near the end of April, but it felt like she had already decided not to hire me. By the end of May, I got an auto-rejection email, which was pretty dismissive after all that. The whole thing lasted from February to May, and the lack of communication was really frustrating and made me feel undervalued.

It was an in-person panel interview with the hiring manager and two staff members. The interview lasted about an hour. They asked typical open-ended questions and some about my skills. After the first interview round, the final round was with the hiring manager. They wanted to make sure I was qualified and really interested in the job.

I was contacted for this position at OCLC through a hiring firm for a contract to hire. The entire interview process to confirmation took 2 weeks. After an initial screening with the hiring agency representative over the phone, I had two more rounds of interviews with the Managers and other BSA's via online video interview. The interviewers were warm, welcoming and provided enough time to respond. The questions mainly consisted of behavioral (STAR based), business analysis fundamentals, project management, and a case study. I stumbled a little bit on the case study but felt great on the overall discussion. After a week, I received a phone call stating I was selected for the role.
