First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Oceaneering International.
Maintenance Engineer
It was a quick and smooth process, involving interviews with managers and conducted in English. I applied through LinkedIn. The HR representative was very helpful, providing full support throughout the stages and facilitating communication with the company.
- Do you have knowledge about maintenance and routine tasks?
Engineer
It took a long time to get a response after applying. First, there was a phone screen, then an interview with the hiring manager, and then another interview with a different manager. The interviewers were pretty chill. They gave a good overview of the company, but didn't really go into much detail about the specifics of the position.
- How well do you collaborate with team members?
- What's your experience with projects like this?
- Are you comfortable managing various tasks?
Engineering Analyst
It was supposed to be a three-stage interview, but it ended up being only two stages. First, I had a technical interview with another engineering analyst, and then I spoke with the engineering manager. If the engineering manager liked my performance, they would have told the HR team to extend a final offer. In my situation, the HR department was indecisive; they never explicitly accepted or rejected my application, even when I followed up multiple times.
- Could you provide an example of destructive interference of waves by explaining the superposition of a crest and a trough, and then extending this to the entire waveform? The interviewer did not clarify if the waveforms were moving together or colliding head-on.
- How would you explain the hydrodynamic response of a ship-shaped structure when subjected to beam seas?
- Where is the best place to position a crane load on a ship's deck?
