Had a phone screen that was in Mandarin. The person interviewing me didn't seem to have a technical background. They mentioned that the company would sponsor my visa and that they are currently evaluating return offers on a case by case basis.

I reached out to the HR on LinkedIn and the first step was a tech assessment. The assessment involved identifying the departments of 100 Facebook employees using their LinkedIn profiles. I used Python Regex and other technical skills, along with common sense, to find keywords that might indicate their department. However, I found this tech assessment very difficult and nonsensical. Some employee profiles had minimal information, just generic titles like 'Engineering Manager', making it impossible to determine their department. I even checked with friends at Facebook, and they confirmed that getting department info from LinkedIn profiles is not possible unless you're an employee. After submitting the assessment, I received no follow-up from the company, no email or call to inform me about my status. It felt like a complete waste of time, especially since they expect potential interns to do this for unpaid positions.
