First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ocado Technology.
Mechanical Design Engineer
It was a really chill and professional interview, with two hiring managers and no HR people. It was all done online. The managers told me a lot about the company, and they were super helpful and open. I didn't feel awkward at all during the interview.
- Could you state the formula for stress?
- Can you explain what the circled 'M' symbol means in geometrical tolerancing?
Mechanical Engineer
I applied for a Mechanical Concept Engineer role in September 2020 and they wanted to interview me in January 2021. The application process was quite rigorous. They gave me a test and a design problem that I had to present. After I submitted everything, they said results would be out in two weeks. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed with their lack of professionalism. I emailed them multiple times, but they never responded to tell me 'No'. They really disrespected applicants and I can only imagine how they treat employees. Don't believe their media image; the company is a mess. When I asked basic organizational questions, the interviewers showed they were disorganized, changed priorities a lot, and were overworked. Applying is at your own risk. I would have regretted leaving my job and relocating to find out how much of a mess they are in.
- A 2-hour Logic Test was administered.
- A Mechanical Engineering Test was part of the process.
- A Personality Test was given.
Mechanical Engineer
I applied in September 2020 for a Mechanical Concept Engineer role and they got back to me in January 2021 wanting to interview me. I decided to still go through their very rigorous application process. They gave me a test and a whole design problem to present. I worked hard on complying and after delivering all material they said results were going to be disclosed “in two weeks”. Complete disappointment to find out the absolute lack of professionalism from the team. After chasing them several times, they never were able to simply tell me “No”. They have ignored my emails. A complete lack of respect for applicants, go imagine for actual employees. When asking the interviewers basic organisational questions, they quickly revealed living in a disorganized, priority-changing mess and being worked to the bone. Apply at your own risk. I would have hated leaving my actual job and relocate only to find the utter-mess they’re in afterwards.
- A 2 hour logic test was given.
- An Engineering test was part of the process.
- A Design Problem Presentation was required.
