First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Oatly.
Director
The interview process was pretty standard, except for an extra step: a virtual chat with the HR Director from People & Culture. We talked about my values, how I work, and how I handle managing people. Lots of places say they care about values and people, but you don't see it much in reality. This part was great for understanding the company culture and also for showing the kind of leader I am and the team vibe I aim for, which will make it easier when I start.
- Tell me about how you handle conflicts between different departments.
Community Manager
The hiring manager reached out via an impersonal email from a 'talent team' address. There's a lack of responsiveness to candidate questions about the interview process or assessments, requiring multiple follow-ups for answers. The process involves over 4 interview rounds for a role that is almost entry-level, which feels excessive and time-consuming.
- What motivates you to join Oatly?
Category Development Executive
The team was really nice and friendly. They looked at both how you'd fit into the culture and your technical abilities. The whole process was quite long with a lot of waiting for feedback between stages. It started with an HR call, then a technical/competency interview, followed by a culture fit assessment, and finally a presentation using data they gave you. I ended up taking a job offer from another company because the feedback was so slow.
- How do you handle having too much work to do?
Head of People
The interview process was unacceptable. I only had the first interview, which was with the screening agency. The conversation lasted about 1 hour and was more of a get-to-know-you, no specific or detailed job-related questions. I was very negatively surprised when asked about my age. Based on my CV (years of study and years of professional experience), my age could easily be guessed. Since my CV clearly showed that I have more than the required years of relevant experience stated in the job ad, I find this question really inappropriate. It's astonishing that the agency interviewer and Oatly don't know it's illegal to ask such personal questions. I now have a really negative feeling about the application process and the company.
- In which year were you born?
