Account Coordinator
So the first thing was a pretty thorough phone chat, plan for it to be about 30-40 minutes. After that, I had to send in a writing sample, specifically a press release about working for O'keeffe. Then, I went in for an in-person interview where I did this weird sorting thing and met some peers informally. A few days later, I had another interview with a manager, and it was basically the same questions as before. The last interview was with Steve O'keeffe himself, less than 10 minutes, and again, the same basic questions. They told me I didn't get the job about a week and a half after that. Honestly, the whole process felt super repetitive and long. It felt like they could have just done everyone at once. They talk about firing people easily but seemed really unsure about hiring.
- You'll get a list of names and need to put them into people, products, and companies categories, with about 10 minutes to do it.
Account Coordinator
Got contacted a few weeks after applying and had a phone interview that seemed to go well, with a strong hint that an in-person was next. HR reached out about two weeks later for a writing sample (a press release) and then I was asked a few days later to schedule the in-person. At the office, I met with HR, asked her some questions, but she was cagey about salary, asking what I was looking for instead. I then completed another 'test' involving categorizing names/companies, presumably to gauge my understanding of their client types. Following that, I met two peers for what felt like a casual chat. They made the job sound good. After that, two senior employees joined and asked generic, sometimes difficult or irrelevant questions. A week later, I got a standard rejection email, though I appreciated the notification.
- What is the most annoying thing about coworkers?
- What four adjectives describe you and your work?
- What four adjectives would your previous manager use to describe you?
Account Coordinator
The first step was a phone interview that was more in-depth than I anticipated, lasting about 30-40 minutes. The HR person asked me questions that I'd typically expect in a live interview, so be ready. If you pass that, you'll come in for an in-person interview with several people and also have to do a writing exercise.
