I got an email from the program manager about an informal phone chat to discuss the role more. The next week I spoke with the program manager and the program director. It was a chill talk about the company and the project, and they asked about my education. Later, the office manager reached out to set up an in-person interview and had me complete a form for HR. At the in-person, there were six interviewers, including the two from the phone call, another program manager, the staff geologist, the office manager, and an HR manager via video. First, they asked about my work and education experience, including typical questions like strengths/weaknesses and handling tough situations. They also asked for more details on some software from my resume. Then, they threw in a technical question about a specific scenario. The second part was my chance to ask questions, and it ended with a one-on-one with the HR manager about pay and what happens next. I waited a bit past the expected date, then emailed HR for an update. They said they liked my background but weren't moving forward, probably because they wanted someone more experienced. It was a decent process, though I wish they'd been quicker to let me know.

Got a call from the recruiting specialist 3 months after sending in my resume and cover letter. Then had a 45 min standard screening phone interview, and got scheduled for an interview 6 weeks later. The 3 hr. interview was a group interview with the Recruiting Specialist, 2 Sr. Project Managers and a Program Manager who stopped in for a half an hour. It was a bit strange not meeting the direct supervisor for the job during the hiring process.

Three in-person interviews with about 50 different people. This took forever. Very little communication. Hopefully you dont need a job immediately, because this will take months. You are going to meet a lot of people who dont know what they are talking about. Seems to be a very political game. Even if you are very qualified and know your stuff you arent guaranteed the job. Suck up and you might stand a chance.
