First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NY Kids Club.
Head of School
The interview process was pretty long. It kicked off with a Zoom call, then an in-person meeting the following week, and a final Zoom call with a VP three weeks later. The day before that last interview, I found out I had to do a presentation. Luckily, I had one ready, so the interview wasn't delayed. During the final chat with the VP, I was surprised he didn't know the company's daily operations and doesn't even live in NYC. After nearly a month and a few follow-up emails, I finally heard back. I hope the VPs can't veto candidates if the District Managers want them on their team.
- Why are you interested in NYKC?
Summer Associate
So, for this summer camp role, I had to do this thing where I had to teach a lesson to a bunch of kids. Honestly, I wasn't really ready for that, and it was a bit awkward. I also kind of assumed I'd be in more of a teaching role myself, not necessarily teaching others. But yeah, besides that hiccup, I really enjoyed my time there.
- What makes you want to join this company?
Marketing Sales
I had a call with someone, and she told me that the Marketing/Sales position no longer existed, and that the Assistant Director would be handling those duties. So, I basically interviewed for a role I didn't want. She asked me one question, 'How did you hear about our company?', and then spent the rest of the 30 minutes telling me about the Assistant Director role. She didn't ask me anything about my experience or why I thought I was a good fit. I mostly just listened. As expected, I got an email the next day saying I wasn't moving on. I wish they'd told me the role changed before the call.
- How did you find out about NY Kids Club?
Administrative Coordinator
The hiring process was very fast. I applied online on a weekend and had my phone and in-person interviews during the following week, receiving an offer letter the week after. I wish the in-person interview had been in a proper office setting rather than near the children's cubby, as it was hard to communicate. I suppose they may have wanted to see how I'd perform in a challenging environment. Overall, it was a standard experience, but I turned down the offer due to numerous negative reviews.
- If a customer calls with a question you don't know the answer to, how would you help them?
- How would you handle a parent who refuses to wear a face mask upon entering?
