Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NXP Semiconductors.
Systems Engineer
It was a two round process and both were technical. The first round was a general technical interview covering basic ECE concepts, with a particular focus on memory management and computer architecture. The second round was more specific to the role and concentrated on memory management.
- Can you describe the background processes involved in opening an application like Notepad on your computer?
- Explain the sequence of events from clicking an application to it opening and becoming ready for typing.
System Engineer
I got a call to be invited to the interview. It lasted kind of long. Many specific questions asked and very detailed answers were needed. Be prepared on specifics about software and hardware.
- Can you explain I2C connections?
- Tell me about data sheets.
- Do you have experience with basic programming in C++?
Systems Engineer
I was interviewed for the android middleware team and they arranged 4 rounds of interviews on 4 different days. I cleared the first two rounds. I thought the next one would be a managerial round, but it turned out to be another technical round where they asked about C and Python. After that, they started asking about C#, which I'm not familiar with and haven't mentioned in my profile. I completed the 4 rounds and the TA told me they wanted one more technical round. I felt a bit put off by the lengthy process but agreed to the 5th technical interview. However, the TA then said the panel was busy and after a few days, there was no response, it seems like they ghosted the candidates just to kill time.
- Basic C programming questions
- Basic Python programs
- Questions about my projects
