Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NXP Semiconductors.
Process Engineer
Had three rounds total. The first two were with managers, and the last one was with the whole hiring team. Mostly typical questions about semiconductor manufacturing and my past experience, as this was for a senior role. One of the managers really pressed me with very specific technical follow-ups, which I doubt even they could answer. They asked me to recall the entire CMOS flow from memory, but I'd seen a heads-up about that possibility, so I was ready.
- Could you outline the standard CMOS process flow?
- Could you describe the standard CMOS process flow from memory?
Process Engineer
Had a standard behavioral interview with the hiring manager for the Wet Etch group. Then went onsite for a 6-hour interview. This included about 45 minutes with each group, covering cleans, equipment, and etch, among others. The interviews were straightforward, mostly asking about relevant experience and checking if I knew my resume.
- Are you familiar with vacuum systems?
- What do you know about semiconductor manufacturing?
- Are you comfortable giving instructions to someone older?
Industrial Engineer Intern
Had one interview on Zoom. The hiring manager and a team member were on the call. I actually spent most of the time asking them questions rather than them asking me. I thought it was a bad sign at first, but I got an offer about a week later.
- Can you tell me about your previous internship experiences?
