First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NXP Semiconductors.
Digital Verification Engineer
After resume screening, there was a paper-pen test. This was followed by a 1-hour technical interview. Then, there was a combined 1-hour technical and HR interview. The technical part focused on FSM design, Schmitt Trigger circuits (including hysteresis and applications), and CMOS circuit implementation. The HR part covered future study plans and preferred locations.
- Can you describe the design of a Finite State Machine (FSM)?
- Explain the Schmitt Trigger circuit, its hysteresis, and its applications.
- How would you realize a CMOS circuit?
Test Engineer
I had a phone call with the manager first, then went through 4 rounds of 1:1 interviews. The first 2 rounds were all behavioral, and the next 2 were purely technical. They took a really long time to get back to me, even though the HM initially said I'd hear back in 2-3 days, it actually took over 2 weeks to get rejected. The interviews weren't too hard except for the 3rd round where they asked about topics I hadn't covered in school yet.
- Can you share some examples of how you collaborated with various individuals?
- What are your strategies for communicating with team members who are falling behind on their work?
- Describe the topics covered in the third round that were beyond your current academic knowledge.
Test Engineer
So the interview process was, first they had an online exam on C and C++. Then the next day they had results, and the day after that the next interview was taken. The day after that they had results, and finally, they sent the offer letter and joining date with stipend for the internship.
- Tell me about your resume, and let's discuss some Python coding.
- Can you convert binary to decimal?
- Could you elaborate on the details in your resume?
