Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NXP Semiconductors.
Analog Design Engineer
I went through an online assessment round, which covered both Analog and Digital electronics. After that, I was shortlisted for a technical interview where I was asked about Analog electronics and Network Analysis.
- Could you explain what a differential amplifier is and what it's used for?
Analog Engineer
very deep questions on analog electronics, with emphasis on RC filters. How do parasitic capacitances impact high-frequency performance in RC filters? How does the choice of dielectric affect capacitor stability? What trade-offs exist between sharp roll-off and phase distortion? How do non-ideal resistors alter frequency response? How does thermal noise influence precision in low-pass and high-pass RC filters?
- How does the choice of resistor and capacitor tolerances affect the frequency response of an RC filter?
Analog Design Engineer
It was a single, lengthy interview that lasted for 2 hours and was very thorough. Overall, it was a positive experience, however, I declined the offer because it was a contract position with limited job security.
- Can you tell me about your previous work experiences?
- What are your thoughts on the circuits we are currently developing?
